Disneyland or Disney World, Which Is Better for Your Family Trip
Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida share a lot of the same magic, but they make for very different trips. This guide compares the differences that actually change your plans: how many parks there are, how you get around, how long to stay, and how dining reservations work.

Size and getting around
Disneyland is compact. Its two parks sit across a plaza from each other, and Downtown Disney and the Disneyland Resort hotels are close by. That’s easier with strollers, grandparents and little legs.
Disney World is spread out. Its four theme parks are far enough apart that you’ll use Disney transportation or a car to get between them. The upside is much more to do. The trade-off is more planning and more travel time within your trip.
Trip length

For most families, how far you’d travel matters as much as the parks themselves. Compare flight times and costs from your home airport to Orange County or Los Angeles (for Disneyland) and to Orlando (for Disney World).
Dining reservations
Both resorts open most restaurant reservations up to 60 days ahead. The difference:
